The Splendid Sampler 2 / Split Hexie Flower
I had the incredible opportunity this year to make a block for the book Splendid Sampler 2, by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson. There is an entire community surrounding these books - and an amazing sew along that goes hand in hand with it.
It’s my block’s week (pg 124) over on the Splendid Sampler sew along! For those of you that have been sewing along with the group I do hope you enjoy the Split Hexie Flower. It’s one of my most favorite techniques - a cross between hand and machine sewing.
To celebrate my week I wanted to make some new blocks that have a bright and cheerful springtime feel to them. I decided on an SunPrint 2019 by Alison Glass - you can find that line here in her shop. I love the floral, and text combo for the split hexie flower and the beautiful saturated colors.
I am waiting on some clear monfilament thread for sewing my flowers to the background fabric square. I also think these might be cute on a pillow like this as well!
The Sew-Along that is currently running has it’s own facebook page with tons of inspiration. You can chat with everyone, get tips on certain blocks if you are having trouble or even ideas on fun fabric combos that others are using!
There is also a great giveaway for people participating in the Sew-Along! Just make this block, take a photo and post to the Splendid Sampler website!
I will be hopping in and out of the Facebook group this week to check on everyone’s progress, chat and see all of the amazing blocks! Hope to see you there :)
