Charm Pack Placemats
Hi friends, Today I am sharing another fun video tutorial by Fat Quarter Shop and Sherri McConnell, this time we are working on a great beginner project that uses charm packs - Charm pack placemats!
The fabrics I used for this project are from designer Kelly Ventura for Windham Fabrics, this line is called Flora and I decided to pull the pink and red selections from the line because it reminds me of summer and will brighten up my house.
Don't you just love the watercolor design? It's pretty amazing, because Kelly is actually a fine artist that specializes in water color, and I own a couple of her art pieces in her home. I have been saving this fabric for a home decor fabric because it is just so special.
I got about halfway done, and then realized I had zero fabric that matched for the binding, I was about to do white, but because I love this fabric so much....I think it's best to just order more and make them extra special.
I made one minor change to the pattern, instead of making the 4 square blocks two fabrics, after combining two of the charm packs and cutting, I decided to swap with the other two and actually make the 4 square block using 4 different fabrics.
I love how the flow of the light and dark fabrics go across the front of the placemats. I had so much fun making the center sections, I think I see a quilt using those as 12" blocks in my future!
Thanks for stopping by today friends!
