Star Wars Big Banner // A Sizzix Tutorial

Hi friends, today I am sharing a fun and quick project perfect for a kiddos bedroom, a party or any holiday - The Big Banner. This version is for my son's "future room" which will eventually be Star Wars themed. The die used for this project is a new one by Sizzix - Bigz L Die, Banner Big. This is one I am so excited about because there are so many ways you can use it! Not just for paper, this die makes the best fabric banners - by sewing and flipping the fabric or even leaving a raw edge.

You can make a super simple banner and leave the banner pieces as is or continue by following the directions as shown below.

Lay your cut banner pieces face down on a backing fabric rectangle. Keeping the back fabric piece in a rectangle and not cutting it like the bunting front helps when sewing the pointed pieces. Stitch around the sides and the bottom pointed areas using a 1/4" seam allowance. Make sure to leave the top of the banner open for turning right side out.

Trim the excess backing fabric away, snipping the points off and also a small snip on the inside of the V. This will help with turning the bunting piece right side out.

Turn right side out - poke out corners - press and top stitch around the side and bottom pointed edges of the banner piece.

Add your bias tape along the top, spacing out your banner pieces as you like. Sew along the edge to attach and fold in and sew ends of bias tape to cover the raw edges.

This will go above a shelf we are adding to my sons room that is going to hold all of his Star Wars Lego pieces.

Add letters to this for a party banner - there are several letter dies that Sizzix makes that are the perfect size!

Thanks for stopping by friends!
