Timber Quilt Along // Week 4
Hi friends and welcome to week 4 of our Timber Quilt Along! Can you believe we have almost been working on our quilt for a month? It's so nice to have this project broken into sections because I look forward to Sunday "aka Timber sewing day" in my house.
This week we are focusing on Section 2 part 2 which consists of our flying geese. I have been looking forward to this part since the beginning well because I love the way flying geese look in quilts and I also just realized I have never sewn any before. Everyone has sewn a flying geese block Nicole how can this be?! I am truly flabbergasted....I keep looking through images of projects and I just can't find anything! Anyways, I know am in love - as one is when discovering the flying geese block and now that's all I want to make!
Follow your directions for cutting and sewing closely because this is another one where if your seam allowances are not spot on, will throw off your final measurements.
I am loving the pinks and blues paired with the black chambray fabric this week.
Sewing tips that I have for you this week:
- Draw the lines on your flying geese side squares before hand so you don't have to stop at each block and pick up your marking pen.
- And for the second one, make chain piecing your friend! I am a sucker for a project that allows you to chain piece.
First flying geese ever! (from what I remember) He's a little wonky on top but was able to make it work when sewing together in my row.
Here are some images of my four finished blocks...wouldn't this be fun as a quilt by itself? Oh I have a feeling that I will be going through a flying geese phase pretty soon.
And here they are lined up with all of the other sections we have completed so far - it's really coming together and I can't wait to start adding the citrus colors at the two ends of the quilts - so much fun!
