New Year's Eve Quick Party Decor
Hi friends, nothing like the day of to make some last minute decorations...or are you not a procraftinator like I am? Well, if you don't have time just pin this for next year for some quick ideas that use almost no materials at all! This was a fun project I threw together using three of my favorite Sizzix dies - you can customize any of these three banners with a number of materials for just about any holiday!
This project took just a couple of hours, two fat quarters of fabric, two pieces of felt and gold thread....now that is making a lot with very little.
I thought about putting the decorations up on the mantel but thought since we are celebrating the new year, why not decorate my bar since it will be somewhat the center of attention this evening.
Using my 4" triangle die from Sizzix I was able to create the triangle bunting that you see above. Cut out two pieces of fabric for each bunting piece, face RST and sew along two sides. Turn right side out, press and add a long strip of bias tape or 2.5" wide binding material and sew like you would binding a quilt.
For my circle banner I used two pieces of black felt and a small square of left over gold and black fabric and my 1 1/2" circles die from Sizzix. Sew together with gold thread for a fun sparkly touch.
For the third and final bunting I used my festive fabric and my Pennants die from Sizzix, sewing together at the very top with my gold thread.
Fabrics and materials used in these projects are:
- Timeless Treasures - Hatch Metallic Cream
- Timeless Treasures - Hatch Metallic Black
- Robert Kaufman - Whats your number, Pepper (this link has an insane deal right now!! Perfect countdown fabric :)
- Black Felt
- Gold Thread
- Sizzix Bigz Die - Circles 1 1/2"
- Sizzix Bigz Die - Triangle 4" sides
- Sizzix Bigz Die - Pennants
Hope you all have a fun NYE tonight, see you next year!
