Scraps // Half Square Triangle Pillow
Hi friends! I recently received a bag FULL of amazing fabric and linen samples from my downstairs neighbor who owns a shop in the Merchandise Mart in downtown Chicago. These range from full on comforter samples, silk, velvet, cotton, you name it... it was in there.
Each fabric sample measured around 6" x 10" and was the perfect size to run through my Sizzix die cutting machine to create a fun HST pillow. I grouped the fabrics into the different color ranges - this pillow was created using the grays and blacks. I have a stack of burgundy, coral, light pink and blues for some future pillows.
I will admit...cutting the fabric was the easiest, sewing the stretching half square triangles was very difficult. The different textures - some silk, some quilted fabrics proved to be quite the task. After piecing it all together and almost giving up around the ironing process I decided to just quilt the heck out of it!
I love the worn look of the pillow and it really reminds me of one of my favorite stores in Chicago - All Saints. Somewhat grungy with a wee bit of femininity with the worn floral cottons.
Would I make this pillow again...well I really do not care to, but I have already cut up all of the burgundy fabrics so it's fate. I know that I will love it once it is finished - just have to make sure it doesn't sit in my WIP pile till next fall.
Thanks for stopping by today!
