Hi friends! One of my favorite gifts to make is a mini quilt - you can use awesome scraps you have saved that are too small for a larger project, they are quick, and you can do some fun quilting since you are working with such a small space.
Here are some of the mini quilts I recently made for the Handmade Birthday club that I am participating in.
The first is for a friend that loves purple and aqua - so I stitched up a fun little spool guy that is part of a crafty characters embroidery pattern from Wild Olive (I'm a huge fan girl of hers). Added some coordinating squares and quilted the heck out of it. I am not a huge purple fan...I really do not have much in my stash but I think it's starting to grow on me.
The next is for a friend that loves fall colors, the architextures line and lush by Erin Michaels. I pretty much just wanted to keep this one because these are a few of my favorite things as well. The quilting on this one was fun because it was quite random, but I love how it turned out.
The last, well it's my favorite. Unfortunately when I was taking these pictures I still was in the process of adding the binding - if you can just picture the white confetti dot along the borders as well. I love this little tomato pincushion and especially love the random backing fabric that had just the right amount of red. I wasn't sure at the time when I made this what her favorite colors were (they turned out to be anything purple or Halloween - funny, that is exactly the other two quilts). I do hope that she enjoys this little mini for her sewing room, it really does make me smile :)
