Southpark Bag by Ellison Lane
When I first saw that Jennifer was asking around for pattern testers I was so excited because I have been following Jennifer's work on her blog - Ellison Lane and over on her Instagram feed for a while. My bag making experience for me is pretty much just cutting out fabric, crossing my fingers and winging it. That being said, this was my very first bag pattern...and technically my first pattern ever. I was a little worried I would ruin this bag!
Well, let me tell you this was a breeze to make and I love LOVE how it turned out! I usually carry a sling bag over my body just because it is easier with a little kiddo and I feel safer running around in Chicago with a bag that would be harder to steal :) So this bag style was a little different, but I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and it has been perfect. I'm planning out more bags now in different fabrics - especially after seeing Darcy's over at Modern Cozy!
One feature I absolutely love is the inside pocket. I have a few bags with interior pockets and they are functional until you have a big whopping android phone and then cover that mammoth phone with an even larger protective case....most pockets will no longer be big enough. This pocket was the perfect size and I didn't even have to make a single change to the pattern. Just stitch up the middle and voila - perfect size!
Since I am always running around with my toddler I have to carry essentials with me, like a baggie of snacks, two or three diapers and travel size wipes, these all fit inside perfectly and I still had room for my wallet and my phone.
I had a really hard time narrowing down my fabrics for this bag, but since fall was creeping up on us I wanted to use something with a little texture and some colors that would complement my wardrobe style.

Big thanks to Jennifer, I had so much fun making this bag and am looking forward to making my self another one and a few for some Christmas gifts!
